That Piece of Plastic in Your Pocket
Most of us by the age of 18 have a piece of plastic we carry on us. Its not made by a contraceptive company, but by financial corporations. This piece of plastic is the cause of hardships for millions of individuals. We are taught, urged and conditioned to believe we need one..or two...or three of these pieces of plastic. At an astounding 3.375 in x 2.125 in it has the ability to destroy homes, reputations, and lives. By now you probably have a clue to what i am referring to, yup... its the credit card.
I received my first credit card at 19 out of curiosity. You know just to see what it would be like. My parents had always advised me to not get one.. I now see why. I luckily dont have any CC debt but millions of Americans do. The main issue isn't necessarily the card itself, but the hidden fees and insane interest rates. it may not seem like much but 18% is a lot and adds up fast if you dont pay off your balance. Thats the trick. Companies only tell you to pay the minimum payment. The rest of the balance then accruals all that interest.
Credit cards can be useful if you can afford it and are diligent with paying off your debts. If you aren't i would highly advise you steer clear of this piece of plastic.. it could cost you...applicant beware.
